Annie Legg has made it through to the last sixteen of the National Champion of Champions competition after a 21.17 win over the Yeovil champion in the area final. Legg cruised to the area final with 21.5, 21.7 wins over the Dorchester and Wellworthy champions. The finals showdown at Hayling Island on the 2nd February.
Bridport Ladies A team made sure of top spot over Christmas in the County League after a runaway 60.24 home win over Moonfleet A. Ann Turtell, Helen Dowling, making a fine debut, Pat Cornick and Margaret Clapp winning 24.12, Pamela Daters, Margaret Pestelle, Sue Walsh and Legg hammered their opponents 36.12. They have some tough away matches in the New Year but are now firm favourites to regain their title.
Sharon Heath, Janet Tattershall, Anne Parkins and Sheila Nicoll picked up a point for the B team against Moonfleet B drawing 26.26, Moonfleet picking up the four points for overall win as Rosie Wilton, Joan Higman, Millie Meech and Jenny Harding dropped a late five count to lose 20.22.
In the County Over 60’s league Bridport A’s title hopes took a blow as they lost all points at home to Bournemouth. Bridport B picked up a fine four out of the six available points at Wellworthy. Alan Wotherspoon, Brian Baker and Peter Scott winning 23.14 with Wotherspoon having a great game at lead. Brian Legg, Keven Rendell and Bob Hill finishing 1.2.3 to finally lose 16.21 giving Bridport the two extra points for an overall win.
